Northern Rockies Woodworking Guild Al Stirt Demo October 2006

Al Stirt gave the Northern Rockies Woodworking Guild an excellent demonstration on October 6th, 2006 at the Bozeman High School wood shop. Students were allowed to attend for free and we had many guild members and guests attending the demonstration. Over 300 people in all attended with the students coming through as their classes permitted. Al demonstrated many interesting techniques and detailing ideas. He demonstrated how to get the grain to balance in the bottom of what would otherwise be a rather plain bowl by counting the growth rings and adjusting the bowl blank part way through the turning. He brought a special driving jig to allow this adjustment. Al also brought several interesting tools for embellishing the surfaces of the bowls.
